The descendant of four generations of leather workers in America and many more in Eastern Europe, Nix has created art since childhood.  Following the family tradition Nix opened a leatherworking business and became a nationally recognized award winning designer and builder of costumes. She has created designs for opera, television, theater, dance, figure skating and sporting mascots. In addition to her mastery of leatherwork, Nix is a muralist, painter, jeweler, textile artist and furniture maker. Years of creating elaborate, fanciful and provocative costumes and masks influence the ceramic figure that Nix sculpts.
